Health Professions Students

A key goal of the Western Montana Area Health Education Center is to encourage health professions students to consider and choose careers working in rural and underserved communities. With much of Montana designated as Underserved Areas by state and federal agencies, health professions students students have many options, and we are seeking to increase the opportunities for clinical rotations and shadowing experiences in rural communities.

Specifically, WMT-AHEC provides logistical support for WWAMI medical students in the RUOP program, a four-week rural clinical placement in the summer. WMT-AHEC is also working to develop similar placements for Pharmacy students and to support and expand on existing placements for Physical Therapy students.
